Dr. Sanskriti Menon

Dr. Sanskriti Menon is Senior Programme Director at the Centre for Environment Education (CEE), India. Her work focuses on helping institutions, communities, and governments understand and respond to environmental and climate-related challenges through education, participation, and practical action. Over the years, she has contributed to initiatives that link climate concerns with everyday issues such as mobility, health, urban development, and natural resource management. Using deliberative democracy approaches, which was the focus of her PhD research, she aims to create spaces where diverse groups can bring forward their perspectives, helping local governments consider climate resilience, equity, and well-being in their planning. Her work involves designing and facilitating processes through which citizens can share their experiences and collectively reflect on public issues. These include citizens’ assemblies, neighbourhood discussions, and participatory planning on mobility, food systems, and urban sustainability.

At CEE, Dr. Menon’s efforts have supported the development of learning materials, teacher capacity, and youth engagement programmes that encourage critical thinking, scientific temper, and practical action for sustainability. She has been the Convenor of the Board of Studies for Environmental Education of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. She mentors the implementation of the global Green Key programme (for sustainability in the hospitality sector) and the Blue Flag programmes (for sustainable management of tourism beaches) in India. As a member of the Advisory Committee of the JSW Centre for Climate and Health, she contributes insights from her experience in community engagement, environmental education, and climate-sensitive urban practice.
