Steering Committee Meeting of JSW CCCH

The JSW Centre for Climate Change and Health convened its second Steering Committee Meeting in Gurugram on 19–20 March 2026, bringing together distinguished members for two days of insightful discussions and strategic deliberations.

The meeting opened with remarks by Prof. Sanjay Zodpey, who reflected on Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI)’s two-decade journey and underscored climate change as an urgent, cross-cutting public health challenge, calling for coordinated and immediate action. This was followed by updates on the Centre’s progress, shared by Prof. Preeti Negandhi.

A key highlight of the meeting was the development of the Centre’s Strategic Plan. Ms. Manushi Sharma presented the draft framework, followed by an engaging participatory session led by Dr. Raj Shankar Ghosh to refine the Centre’s Vision, Mission, and Values. Building on this, Prof. Preeti Negandhi facilitated a group exercise to critically review and strengthen the Theory of Change for the Strategic Plan, ensuring alignment with evolving climate-health priorities and operational realities.

Day 2 focused on strengthening collaborations, partnerships, and exploring funding opportunities to expand the Centre’s impact, with sessions facilitated by Prof. Preeti Negandhi and Dr. Raj Shankar Ghosh.

The meeting concluded with closing remarks by Prof. Sanjay Zodpey, who expressed appreciation for valuable contributions from all the participants, including the Steering Committee members and senior technical experts. He emphasized that the insights generated will inform a dynamic and evolving strategic roadmap. Reaffirming the Foundation’s ethos of being “locally connected, nationally relevant, and globally respected,” he highlighted the importance of equity-driven, context-sensitive, and robust interventions, alongside diversified funding strategies to ensure long-term sustainability.
