JSWCCCH Centre moderates the Climate and Health Conclave at the Purple Umbrella Festival

The JSW Centre for Climate Change and Health, PHFI, was honoured to participate in the Purple Umbrella Festival, held on 6 October 2026 at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, where it moderated the Climate and Health Conclave.

More than 80 students came together for a day of candid, curiosity-driven dialogue on air pollution, extreme heat, safety, climate stress, and the wider health impacts of climate change. Rather than a one-way lecture, the conclave was a genuine exchange. Students arrived curious, informed, and ready to engage, posing thoughtful questions that sparked insightful discussions with experts. Their feedback captured the spirit of the day perfectly. As one student shared, I walked in with a mindset of competition and am walking out with a feeling of collaboration.

That shift from competition to collaboration is exactly the point. The challenges at the intersection of climate change and health cannot be solved by any one discipline working in isolation. Climate change is no longer just an environmental issue; it is increasingly a health issue, and the people who will live with its consequences are in school today.

Festivals and sessions like these are an investment in building that awareness early, giving young people the confidence to engage with the world they are inheriting. The students enthusiasm, participation, and creativity showed why such inspiring
platforms matter in empowering the next generation of climate and health champions.
